DEPUTY MANAGER

Nut Tree Outdoor Nursery Deputy Manager
You will be tasked with providing support to the Nursery Manager ensuring that the Nursery operates at a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for the children aged 3-5 years within the culture of the setting. You will be required to lead and support the team, in the absence of the Manager and ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to.

You will work with the team to create an enabling environment where children can develop and learn through play. You will use your existing skills, experience and passion for outdoor education to deliver a fantastic experience for our children, promote our ethos and help to make Nut Tree Outdoor Nursery the best it can be. Therefore, sound knowledge and understanding of the EYFS curriculum, is essential.

Nut Tree Outdoor Nursery is an innovative Early Years setting, with passionate and experienced practitioners. The team see children as competent learners who are able to lead their learning through play whilst being supported by respectful adults who place their relationship with the children at the heart of what they do.

Roles and Responsibilities

   *   Ensure Nut Tree Outdoor Nursery is compliant with the law and Ofsted regulations​

  • Ensure that the setting's philosophy is fulfilled and promoted at all times

  • Be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside 

  • Lead and support the team during the Managers absence

  • Support the Manager in all areas of Nut Tree Outdoor Nursery

  • Build relationships with parents and communicate with them daily and via Famly app

  • Record observations and assessment of children via the Famly app

  • Help arrange open events and parent days at Nursery

  • Conduct daily risk assessments of the outdoor area

  • Ensure medical supplies are well stocked and in date

  • Support staff to create and present termly child progress reports

 

Qualification/Experience

  • At least 2 years experience of working in a Nursery/Early Years setting as either an Early Years Practitioner or Room Leader

  • A relevant childcare qualification (Minimum NNEB, NVQ3/Diploma 

  • Preferable experience within outdoor education environment (desirable)

  • Experience of undergoing Ofsted inspections with 'Good' OR 'Outstanding' outcomes (desirable)

  • Experience of improving or troubleshooting within a setting to raise Ofsted outcomes (desirable)

  • A robust knowledge of the EYFS

  • Highly organised, structured individual and confident in using initiative

  • Inspiring leader with a vision to improve children's outdoor education

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes and use a flexible approach in helping to manage a diverse team in an outdoor setting

  • Excellent communicator, attuned to your own emotions

  • High quality writing skills

  • Approachable and caring, with a passion for working with children and the outdoors
